# Funding Rate API: Hyperliquid, HIP-3, and Lighter

> Funding rate API and history for Hyperliquid, HIP-3, and Lighter with decimal-safe fields for backtests and dashboards.

Funding is the periodic payment between longs and shorts. Pull the current rate or its history, with the premium component, on Hyperliquid core, HIP-3, Lighter, and Lighter on Robinhood Chain; Spot and HIP-4 have no funding.

Keep the venue namespace and the decimal-string fields intact. The exact operations are in [OpenAPI](/openapi), each symbol's window is on [Venue coverage](/venue-coverage), and [Data quality](/data-quality) checks a long window before a funding series feeds alerts. WebSocket replay covers the funding channels listed under [Stream or replay it](#stream-or-replay-it).

## Get funding

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Hyperliquid">
    ```bash theme={"theme":"github-dark"}
    curl "https://api.0xarchive.io/v1/hyperliquid/funding/BTC/current" \
      -H "X-API-Key: $OXARCHIVE_API_KEY"
    ```

    `/current` is the latest value; `/v1/hyperliquid/funding/{symbol}` paginates history.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="HIP-3">
    ```bash theme={"theme":"github-dark"}
    curl "https://api.0xarchive.io/v1/hyperliquid/hip3/funding/km:US500/current" \
      -H "X-API-Key: $OXARCHIVE_API_KEY"
    ```

    `/v1/hyperliquid/hip3/funding/{symbol}` and `/current`. Namespaced builder symbols, case-sensitive (for example `km:US500`).
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Lighter">
    ```bash theme={"theme":"github-dark"}
    curl "https://api.0xarchive.io/v1/lighter/funding/{symbol}/current" \
      -H "X-API-Key: $OXARCHIVE_API_KEY"
    ```

    `/v1/lighter/funding/{symbol}` and `/current`. Find symbols on `/v1/lighter/instruments`.

    For Lighter, `funding_rate` is a fractional, non-annualized decimal string. For example, `0.0001` represents 0.01%.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Lighter on Robinhood Chain">
    ```bash theme={"theme":"github-dark"}
    curl "https://api.0xarchive.io/v1/rh-lighter/funding/BTC/current" \
      -H "X-API-Key: $OXARCHIVE_API_KEY"
    ```

    `/v1/rh-lighter/funding/{symbol}` and `/current`, for perpetual markets, with history from 2026-08-22. The rate uses the same fractional, non-annualized form as Lighter mainnet. Find symbols on `/v1/rh-lighter/instruments`.
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

The Lighter operations are [Get current Lighter funding rate](/api-reference/lighter--funding/get-current-lighter-funding-rate) and [Lighter funding rate history](/api-reference/lighter--funding/get-lighter-funding-rate-history).

## Request parameters

| Parameter | Description |
| - | - |
| `symbol` | Path, required, string. Trading pair symbol, e.g. `BTC` |
| `start` | Query, optional, integer (ms) or string. Start time, Unix ms or RFC 3339. Defaults to 24h ago |
| `end` | Query, optional, integer (ms) or string. End time, Unix ms or RFC 3339. Defaults to now |
| `interval` | Query, optional, string. Aggregation interval: `1m`, `5m`, `15m`, `30m`, `1h`, `4h`, or `1d`. When omitted, the route returns raw source updates at the family-specific cadence. |
| `limit` | Query, optional, integer. Max results. Default 100, maximum 1000. |
| `cursor` | Query, optional, integer. Pagination cursor from `meta.next_cursor`; pass the returned value unchanged. |

## Example response

```json theme={"theme":"github-dark"}
{
  "success": true,
  "data": { "coin": "BTC", "symbol": "BTC", "timestamp": "2026-06-05T16:44:24.247Z", "funding_rate": "0.0000012223", "premium": "-0.0006575703" },
  "meta": { "request_id": "cccccccc-cccc-4ccc-8ccc-cccccccccccc" }
}
```

## Response fields

| Field | Description |
| - | - |
| `symbol` | String. Trading pair symbol (`coin` is a deprecated alias) |
| `timestamp` | String. Funding time (UTC) |
| `funding_rate` | String. Funding rate as a decimal (e.g. `0.0001` is 0.01%) |
| `premium` | String. Premium component of the funding rate |

`funding_rate` and `premium` are decimal strings, so keep them as strings to the application edge.

## Reading the funding rate

For Lighter, `funding_rate` is a fractional, non-annualized decimal string. For example, `0.0001` represents 0.01%, not 0.0001 percentage points. A positive rate means longs pay shorts; a negative rate means shorts pay longs. `premium` is the mark-to-index component that drives the rate. Keep both as decimal strings until the application edge so small rates do not lose precision in floating point.

## Recorded row cadence

Cadence is family- and symbol-specific. Use coverage and freshness routes for the selected symbol and window; a row cadence is not a funding payment or annualization interval.

## Access

Each venue's start date, WebSocket channels, and page limit come from [`GET /v1/capabilities`](/capabilities), followed by the SDK, CLI, and MCP names for the same data. The start date is the first served row on that venue; exact starts vary by market, so check `/v1/symbols` for a single symbol. Send `0xArchive-Version: 2026-10-01` for the current response contract; see [API conventions](/conventions).

## Stream or replay it

Funding streams live on Hyperliquid core (`funding`), HIP-3 (`hip3_funding`), Lighter (`lighter_funding`), and Lighter on Robinhood Chain (`rh_lighter_funding`), and each channel also supports timed replay. The live `lighter_funding` message carries the current Lighter funding rate as a fraction inside a market-context object that also includes open interest and prices; see [Lighter WebSocket channels](/websocket/lighter). Lighter current funding is also available through REST, and `lighter_funding` supports historical WebSocket replay. Historical data is also available through REST and exports. Spot and HIP-4 do not serve funding.

```javascript theme={"theme":"github-dark"}
ws.send(JSON.stringify({ op: "subscribe", channel: "funding", symbol: "BTC" }));
```

Connection and reconnect handling live in the [WebSocket](/websocket) tab; see [WebSocket channels](/websocket/channels) for the family matrix.

## Export in bulk

For a funding-rate history as files, use the `funding` export schema (`$0.50/GB`, `$2.50 minimum`), delivered as Parquet with ZSTD compression. Build a selection in the [Data Catalog](/data-catalog); columns and coverage keys are on [Export schemas](/export-schemas).

## Next step

For positioning alongside funding, continue to [Open interest](/rest-api/open-interest).
