Funding is the periodic payment between longs and shorts. Pull the current rate or its history, with the premium component, on Hyperliquid core, HIP-3, Lighter, and Lighter on Robinhood Chain; Spot and HIP-4 have no funding. Keep the venue namespace and the decimal-string fields intact. The exact operations are in OpenAPI, each symbol’s window is on Venue coverage, and Data quality checks a long window before a funding series feeds alerts. WebSocket replay covers the funding channels listed under Stream or replay it.

Get funding

/current is the latest value; /v1/hyperliquid/funding/{symbol} paginates history.
The Lighter operations are Get current Lighter funding rate and Lighter funding rate history.

Response fields

funding_rate and premium are decimal strings, so keep them as strings to the application edge.

Reading the funding rate

For Lighter, funding_rate is a fractional, non-annualized decimal string. For example, 0.0001 represents 0.01%, not 0.0001 percentage points. A positive rate means longs pay shorts; a negative rate means shorts pay longs. premium is the mark-to-index component that drives the rate. Keep both as decimal strings until the application edge so small rates do not lose precision in floating point.

Recorded row cadence

Cadence is family- and symbol-specific. Use coverage and freshness routes for the selected symbol and window; a row cadence is not a funding payment or annualization interval.

Access

Each venue’s start date, WebSocket channels, and page limit come from GET /v1/capabilities, followed by the SDK, CLI, and MCP names for the same data. The start date is the first served row on that venue; exact starts vary by market, so check /v1/symbols for a single symbol. Send 0xArchive-Version: 2026-10-01 for the current response contract; see API conventions.

Stream or replay it

Funding streams live on Hyperliquid core (funding), HIP-3 (hip3_funding), Lighter (lighter_funding), and Lighter on Robinhood Chain (rh_lighter_funding), and each channel also supports timed replay. The live lighter_funding message carries the current Lighter funding rate as a fraction inside a market-context object that also includes open interest and prices; see Lighter WebSocket channels. Lighter current funding is also available through REST, and lighter_funding supports historical WebSocket replay. Historical data is also available through REST and exports. Spot and HIP-4 do not serve funding.
Connection and reconnect handling live in the WebSocket tab; see WebSocket channels for the family matrix.

Export in bulk

For a funding-rate history as files, use the funding export schema ($0.50/GB, $2.50 minimum), delivered as Parquet with ZSTD compression. Build a selection in the Data Catalog; columns and coverage keys are on Export schemas.
